We were about to turn in for the night when we spotted an LA Times update email containing tomorrow morning’s headlines. One headline in particular caught our eye: Antiabortion activists see a racial conspiracy.
Did we not just write a post about an article on this very thing from the New York Times yesterday? Slave Masters Children Back With Bible In Hand: This Time Black Women And Abortion Rights.
What’s even more scary about the LA Times article is the way the headline is slanted. Read it again: Antiabortion activists see a racial conspiracy. In other words, the LA Times piece (and when you read it you’ll see this) accuses abortion clinics and reproductive rights folks as targeting black women in poor black communities and therefore racist in their attempts to purposely diminish the black population.
So now it’s a black genocide conspiracy. That’s the angle they’re going to take to the black church community here in California. You black women professional organizations, black lesbian groups, black sororities, women’s social groups—progressive churches—we can only sound the alarm for so long—-y’all better get your combat boots and fatigues on cause they’re here. And they’re about to launch their campaign on you and against you. Pretty soon the Catholic and Mormon churches will step into the bullpen, too once the groundwork’s been laid.
So you Latin, Asian and white women y’all ain’t off the hook either. You just have a little bit more time to work with is all.
But first it’s the black church community they want to get frenzied, feverish and foaming at the mouths before anyone else. And that’s because unfortunately our most intolerant clergy tends to hop in front of news cameras and the like real quick when it comes to espousing their opinions on their suddenly newly revised moral guidelines and the black community.
Based on the ass whoppin’ No On 8 received in ‘08 by that campaign taking everyone and everything for granted prior to Nov 5, we strongly suggest local black women that you take the LA Times piece as a clear sign that the troops have landed and have explicit directions to spread out and share the gospel. Church goin’ sistas you need to get with your preachers before they do is all we can tell you.
