Update: Wale Says What Gay Pride?
Here’s the latest on the DC Black Gay Pride/Wales drama. According to the DCist Website, Wale claims he didn’t even know about the gig. On Twitter
the rap artist said, “I didn’t even know bout a show..I have done 48 shows this year..and I haven’t booked one personally.”
If you recall our post yesterday DCs Black Gay Pride Cries Foul When Straight Headliner Pulls Out; We Say Look At The Man In Mirror, promoters of the event accused Wale of being homophobic for pulling out of the event because a rep for the rapper told them he did not know it was a gay event.
But Wale made it clear—at least so he says that this is not the case. Even though he had been told not to respond, Wale felt compelled to do so, because “anybody who knows me an familar w/ my music know that I work for PEOPLE..all ppl.”
We watched a couple of Wale videos last night. And we have to admit he’s pretty good. Well we’re just glad alls well that ends well. He made not be heading DC’s Black Gay Pride festivities but at least they know he’s not a hater.
