Last month Huff Post published a rather interesting piece titled Where Are the Pro-LGBT Religious Voices in Mainstream Media? The article was written by GLAAD’s Director of Religion, Faith & Values, Ross Murray. We found the piece intriguing because Murray lamented over the fact that there are very few voices from the LGBT Christian community represented in the media. But several of anti-gay Christian mouthpieces such as Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins are abundantly showcased by mainstream media arms without challenge from the other side.
Murray in the post blasts the media for its absence of balanced representation of points of view from both hetero anti-gay and LGBT Christians. Here’s what he says:

40 Temporary Positions for Neighborhood Interviewers

The Los Angeles Urban League is seeking 40 interviewers to complete a door-to-door survey of residents in the Crenshaw area from Tuesday, May 15 through Saturday, May 19. Interviewers MUST attend training on Tuesday, May 15 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Then interviewers must be available on May 16 through May 19 to work from about 11 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interviewers will be paid $11 an hour or a total of $396 total for this work, minus payroll tax deductions.

I'm coming out. Any other HIV-Negative same gender loving black men out there?
I could use some support about my status. It gets lonely sometimes.
That’s why I’m coming out. I want the world to know. I got to let it show. That’s right y’all. I’m finally coming out of the closet. I am HIV-Negative. There. I said it.
This has been a difficult decision to make—-coming out of the closet about my HIV status. But I just felt the time has come. I can’t be silent about it any longer. You see, nobody talks about people like me. We are invisible. In fact, we don’t exist. Just Google “blacks hiv.” You’ll see. Hundreds upon hundreds of depressing stories, statistics and programs will come up addressing and lamenting over the skyrocketing HIV infection rate in black America.

- Acting like a black man equals homophobe?
Black film Act Like A Man debuted on Friday and as was expected by movie pundits premiered first place at the box office at $30 million in ticket sales so far. That’s no small cheese. With that kind of opening one would think that gay watchdogs like GLAAD would be front row ‘n’ center if any negative portrayals or attitudes towards gays was in the mix right?
Wrong. Too cowardly. Instead of coming out with a direct and responsible statement about how these kinds of portrayals are wrong, JUST BECAUSE THE MOVIE IS BLACK GLAAD WON’T BE SAYING A WORD. NADA. NOTHING. ZILCH. ZERO.
Instead of being courageous as well as responsible, GLAAD will punk out as it typically does when it comes to communties of color and homophobia and leave the naysaying to the hordes of gay white racists who flock to the Gay Inc. blogging likes of Americablog, Towleroad and sometimes black/sometimes white gay man Pam Spaulding and her rag Pam’s House Bland.
Thank God for Gawker.
Bravo Gawker! See, this is the kind of mature criticism that we all need to see more of. That’s cause Gawker is on point. Like, why is it necessary in affirming black male heterosexuality does it always has to factor in negative views on homosexuality?

Black HIV-negative men (+18 and up) be a part of a focus group and share your opinions about sexual behaviors, HIV prevention and HIV medications. Participate with a group of men like yourselves and for an hour and a half of your time be paid $40 in cash.
