Michael Steele Tea Party Defense: “They’re Your Mom And Dad”
RNC chairman Michael Steele has issued a statement condemning the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s resolution to call the Tea Party racist. This comes on the heels of Sarah Palin’s Facebook post in which she labeled the resolution as “regressive.”
“Recent statements claiming the Tea Party movement is racist are not only destructive, they are not true. Tea Party activists are your mom or dad, your local grocer, banker, hairdresser or doctor. They are a diverse group of passionate Americans who want to ensure that our nation returns to founding principles that honor the Constitution, limit government’s role in our lives, and support policies that empower free markets and free enterprise. Enough with the name-calling.”
Personally, I believe there are racist elements in the Tea Party movement, but they are also in the Democratic and Republican parties. It is also very hypocritical on the part of the NAACP to ignore the racist rhetoric emanating from the New Black Panther Party. They are as much a hate group as any neo-Nazi or white supremacist groups in our midst. The reality is that the NAACP is losing its effectiveness fast. This diminishes the little credibility they have left.
Oh boy, sorry. We typed the second paragraph of his blah blah but we’re still laughing at the first one—the part where he was talking about Teabaggers being our mom’s and dad’s. Oh that Steele. Well if he don’t get booted out as chairman of the RNC he’s definitely got a spot at any second rate open mike in towns across America where the populations don’t get past a thousand.
