Award-winning senior writer and columnist for ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com LZ Granderson, will be joining SistersTalk Radio host Genia Stevens on Friday May 14th, (7pm central/5pm pacific) to talk about his latest CNN essay Closeted Gays Are The Enemy Within.  Granderson’s explosive CNN essay Gay Is Not The New Black, made headlines last July for taking The Advocate magazine and white gay leadership to task in their endorsing the phrase, “gay is the new black” as slogan for the LGBT equality movement.

Granderson like many African Americans, found the phrase offensive. But while heterosexual blacks bristled at the notion of gays comparing their issues with the historical struggles of the African American community, Granderson an openly gay African American man focused primarily in his Gay Is Not The New Black essay about racism in the LGBT community and what he viewed as blatant hypocrisy by white gays and gay establishment of adopting such a slogan as “gay is the new black.”

With his latest CNN article, the writer takes aim at closeted anti-gays and the serious dangers these individuals pose to the LGBT community—such as George Rekers, co-founder of American Family Council who was recently found to be chaperoning a male prostitute on a 10-day all expenses paid vacation.  Granderson challenges those who find scenarios like this humorous instead of being outraged. He goes in-depth about the continued existence of these kinds of individuals as they openly thrive in the LGBT community and why it’s time to take homophobic gays a lot more seriously than we do.

This looks to be a really GOOD show—homosexual self-loathing is a topic that can never be talked about enough.  And yes, while we know Granderson is going to be on to discuss his latest article no doubt issues about race and the LGBT community will come up at some point.  We expect some interesting call-ins and chat room discussions is all we gotta say.
