It’s On: Jerry Brown Vs Meg Whitman In Live Debate
The date is set. On October 2, Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman will debate live for the first time at Cal State Fresno, says the Sacramento Bee. Sponsored by the Fresno Bee newspaper and Spanish-Language network Univision, the debate will take place 11 a.m. and broadcast on Univision at 4 p.m. that day.
According to the Sac Bee, Brown accepted an invitation from Whitman to debate after a series of editorials in the Fresno Bee urging Brown to RSVP Whitman.
“I have always believed the voters should hear from the candidates directly, which is why I asked for 10 debates at the start of the campaign,” Brown said. “I’m looking forward to debating in Fresno, Sacramento and San Rafael, and I call on my opponent to stop ignoring Los Angeles, and give voters in that important region a chance to see and participate in a debate as well.”
Brown’s original debate schedule included 10 forums spread around the state, covering a variety of formats and host organizations. More than a month after Brown accepted 10 debate invitations, Meg Whitman declined all but two says Brown’s Website.
Sac Bee says both candidates have also agreed to two other debates: one on Sept. 28, sponsored by The Bee, UC Davis, KCRA and Capital Public Radio, and one on Oct. 12 at San Rafael’s Dominican University, sponsored by NBC Universal. Brown called for another debate to be scheduled in the Los Angeles area.

Jerry Brown is an old fool! He has no business running for governor at his old age. They racked John McCain over the coals for running for president when he was 72 years old but those dare liberal idiots are not saying a peep about old man Brown. Such a double standard with those people. Go Meg, go!!!! You got my vote!!! I urge all independent voters to support Meg for a new California. We can't afford to go backward with old man Brown. We have been down this path before with Brown as a young man. Don't make that same mistake again. California will go down the toilet with Jerry Brown.

Paul – I have no idea YOUR age, but clearly, you're totally clueless and hey: the "fool" label is apparently timeless in your case. Empty, factless attacks on Jerry Brown show the shallowness of your thinking; when comparing the records of Brown and Whitman for scrutiny, there's simply no way anyone with a brain could EVER consider supporting Whitman. A woman with a terrible business record that's anethematic to what California needs today; someone so contemptuous of Democracy that she couldn't even be bothered to VOTE over the decades? Other than simple partisan stupidity, which is exactly why America is in such trouble today – there's NO reason whatsoever to think Whitman is qualified to be governor of my native state. Brown (and YES, I remember clearly) was an exemplary governor despite the attacks of those on the right – he left the state with a budget SURPLUS and had the clear vision for present AND future that has repeatedly been found to be completely prescient and right on the money. So Paul: go howl at the moon and we'll hope for a little mental enlightenment to strike you along the way.

I’m taken aback at your comments. As an independent voter I vote, as I believe other like me do, for the best possible candidate, regardless of party affiliation. It seems to me that if you, however, are name calling….Brown seems very articulate and has a lot of experience. I question why you would call him a fool with out explaining why that is so. If its merely on the basis of his age, I would remind you that Reagan was considered by some unqualified to be president for similar reasons. That being said, while I respect Meg. W’s business experience I am turned off with negative campaigning and am trouble by some of her proposals which I believe would lead us backwards, as you worry Brown would do. I am referring specifically to the moratorium on AB32. While I am in favor of job creation, which may or may not be affected by this act, I don’t want it at the expense of our environment–which in itself is a job industry of its own ie. tourism and agriculture. After careful consideration this moderate independent is voting for Brown.

Paul -Peole are so sick and tired of hearing about how much money she is "buying" into her campaign. She takes stands on situations that you cant just eliminate…for one being welfare…what do you think we are going to do with the thousands of people on welfare that get it taken away…they END UP HOMELESS and ON THE STREETS.She could have donated the millions of dollars she invested into her own camp to support shelters, get people off the street, and fight for a cause worth figthing for. Oh and did I mention meg is against a green california, not to mention she is for prop 8, she supports false advertising, tells lies and stands by them, WE DONT NEED A LIARlet alone someone that is going to buy her way out of a situations. We need to correct the problem, and figure out the source to the solution, I urge independent voters to support JERRY BROWN, dont let a billionair BUY CALIFORNIA! We are better than that!

We need someone that actually wants and will help this valley not just talk about to get votes the real test is when you are governor. What are they going to do to help the people living in the valley. They dont know what we go through and what we see. I agree with Paul you cant just take welfare away but what you can do is manage and fund it to were it is more stable. You guys want to take money away from people and where the hell are jobs so we can work give us jobs so we can provide ourselves with a stable living.
What happen to ONE NATION UNDER GOD????
We need someone that we can trust with bettering this valley!!
